KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas activities officials are investigating a religious school's refusal to let a female referee call a boys' high school basketball game.

The Kansas State High School Activities Association said referees reported that Michelle Campbell was preparing to officiate at St. Mary's Academy near Topeka on Feb. 2 when a school official insisted that Campbell could not call the game.

The reason given, according to the referees: Campbell, as a woman, could not be put in a position of authority over boys because of the academy's beliefs.

Here's a link to the story.

I'm pretty sure that we are living in 2008 and this is amazing. Let me know what you think.

Wonder if these things only happen in Kansas?? Or the media just chooses to report on Kansas oddities? Andrew was telling me they had an interesting, sometimes heated, discussion in his Paul And His Teachings class yesterday. Their discussion was why do we still go with the teachings in a 2000 year old book in today's world. So ... my comment is this. Do we 100% go with everything in the Bible or do we pick and choose and change it on our own to fit today's changing society or to fit our own personal beliefs? There you have it, that's my comment. lmk
