big win

The kids aren't the only ones playing ball. Dee and I are playing on a teachers & spouses team (Southside Teamworkx). We won tonight, 13-12. Granted it was a disorganized high school team, but hey some of us haven't played for a long time!!
We are off to Augusta for a tourney. We'll enjoy some time with Darrels. The cousins will have a great time and it looks like the weather is going to be nice.
Congrats to Mark who is graduating (again) from KU Med Center.

vipers and moms

Notice that I'm about the same height as the 10 year olds!!

Dee and I are playing softball this summer; we didn't want the kids to have all the fun! Tonight after JD's practice, Dee pitched to me and Kaylee thought she needed to catch. She took the ball in the mouth and now is sporting a fat lip. Ouch!

happy mother's day!!

What a day. We got home from JD's tourney at 8 p.m. They got second place, losing only one game by one point to the team that got first. The boys (w/ Coach Wolf's help) called all of the mom's to the first base line between innings and presented us with roses. It was too cute. Kinda like senior night, but they are 8 years younger!! I'll post a pic when I get it.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I truly learned how to be a great mom from you and the kiddos love their Nana. (too bad the Mother's Day card for you and grandma are still on the bar waiting to be mailed!!)

frantic friday

I took the day off to spend it at the kids' play day. It was a beautiful day and the kids had fun so it was worth it!!!!

JD had his Cub Scout crossover tonight and then ball practice. Tomorrow we are going to Mac for a baseball tourney. We are leaving at 6:30 A.M. So much for sleeping in....

Mother's Day is 'round the corner. Check out this story about a mom who is pregnant with #19. WOW! I can't keep up with my 2!!

copyright, right?

Check out the story about Payless and their shoes. Sometimes my students think I'm mean for being so picky about copyright, but look it can happen. $305M-- that's a whole boatload of money. What do you think? Excessive or not? Breaks copyright or not? Interesting.

On another note, I'm enjoying a Landshark Island Style Lager, by Margaritaville Brewing Co. It reminds me of Jimmy Buffet which reminds me of summer which reminds me that we are going on a cousin cruise which reminds me...... you get the picture. Which reminds me..when's the next Paden's trip?

home alone

Dee's in Chicago at some trade show, so the kids and I are here. The kids have to get themselves to school tomorrow so say a prayer. My neighbor offered to take them to school if it's raining. I've bribed them with pizza for supper if they don't have any problems. We'll call and see if cousin ak can join us. JD has practices Wed-Fri but the weather may not cooperate.
This is short and sweet, I'm off to bed!!

Birthdays

Kaylee had a wonderful birthday party in Ellsworth today. She bounced around with her cousins in the bounce house and got a bunch of great presents. She wanted to paint her nails with the "real" nail polish and really wanted to make a bracelet. I told her that we would tomorrow.

While in Ellsworth, Dee and I walked up to the cemetery and golf course to see Ralph's stone and the new tree and monument. They are both are great tributes to a great man. I had to stop and pick some lilacs from behind the Abundance Church which used to be the medical clinic (that's a little weird). I'm sure that God would want me to have them. Anyways they smell amazing!! While I enjoy living in Salina, I also enjoy Ellsworth. I love being able to walk in the street and not worry about getting hit; I also love that everyone waves even if they don't know you. People here are just in a hurry and never take the time to wave because that's what you do.

Oh yeah. I'm 39; almost 40. In the ville, I went to a friend's 40th b-day party and thought that 40 was so middle-age. Ummm, now I'm almost there....

Cousin Mark ran his first (& last) marathon today in less than 4 hours. I'm in awe. Before his 10th class reunion he's graduated with his bachelors & masters, ran a marathon and got a "real" job. Love ya, man!!
